Q: What are those darn codes anyway?
A: The codes we use to track all the pieces:
All product codes for H3 start with, oddly enough, H3.
The third letter indicates the product family:
- C for Commercial products
- D for DIS products
- P for Pro products
- R for the Reimer editor
The fourth letter indicates the product function:
- A for single-player application
- C for Multiplayer Client
- D for Database Editor (superset of Scenario Editor)
- E for Scenario Editor
- S for Multiplayer Server
Examples:
- H3RE - Harpoon 3 Reimer Editor
- H3PS - Harpoon 3 Professional Server
- H3CA - harpoon 3 Commercial Single Player (H3 Advanced Naval Warfare - Single Player)
Q: Why do you make us read the Wiki?
A: Because this is still rough around the edges and we are trying not to waste your time our ours. Our intent in burying the download links was to get folks to read about all the new stuff in the game at least once, before they tested.
We feel it is important, to let the testers know what has been identified as broken and how to report NEW stuff that is broken.
Q: What is a Release, a Build and a Version?
A: A Release is when we release a complete, stand alone installer with all the goodies. A Version is what we ship as an update to our customers. It is about the same as a Build, which is what we use during Development and Beta testing to tell one set of compiled code from another.
