From AGSI
Larry Bond and Chris Carlson own the Harpoon game system.
AGSI owns the code that isn't licensed (like the libraries). That includes the database schema's and file formats.
Users own any data they add to a saved game, edited scenario, new scenario or database.
If a site posts scenarios they will be required to post links to AGSI and a disclaimer that the posted scenarios are User Created and that AGSI has no responsibility for these scenarios. If the publisher of the Database or Scenario has a usage policy it must be complied with.
If you are the publisher of such material you will find that a usage policy will increase the use of your database and reduce your support requests.
If you aren't sure what a usage policy is, I've borrowed this from the IT world as a template for your review. A usage policy in general should contain the following information:
- How and where others may modify it.
- What credit you want including authors, sites, links.
- What conditions, if any, you'll place on publishing scenarios from a DB.
- Your Revision Policy as to when you'll announce updates, version # policy, and updates to Scenarios
AGSI will be incorporating checksums and version #'s into a later version of the database structure and will check scenarios against databases in order to warn users of mismatches. This is partially to reduce "baiting" and partially to prepare for competitions.
